Book 1
When Milo Ryder retires as US Marshal, he moves to Purgatoire Valley in Colorado to seek peace and spend more time with his wife, Hannah. But trouble starts when a horse carrying Gentry Soyer wanders onto the ranch. Gentry nearly falls off his horse and is bleeding from a gunshot wound to his chest. Not able to leave the incident alone, Milo looks for the men responsible. Will finding a resolution to this mean the end of his working as a US Marshal? Or will he continue to pursue the law when he discovers mysterious men watching his ranch and cattle?

After Milo Ryder had captured Cyrus Slade, Marshal Sieke from Stonewall contacts US Marshal Crawley P. Drake at headquarters in Flagstaff Arizona and request that Milo be reinstated as a US Marshal. Milo agrees to be reinstated with the understanding that he will be working his ranch in Purgatoire and only take on certain cases. After being reinstated Milo goes after the kidnappers of Shellie Marker. Now he must work his live between being a marshal and ranching with his wife Hannah.
